April 2025: Volunteering at Potomac River

Every year, LULAC Lambda members volunteer to clean up areas around Washington DC to improve our parks and clean up waterways. On April 19, members volunteered at Gravelly Point Park in Arlington, Virginia. Trash was removed from the banks of Potomac River, the main source of Washington DC's drinking water. 

January 2025: Scholarship announcement

The LULAC Lambda DC Scholarship application process opens March 1, 2025, and applications are due by May 31, 2025. The scholarship committee will review academic performance as well as the student’s work in social justice and meaningful community service accomplishments in the Latinx and/or LGBTQ+ community. December 2024: Holiday fundraiser

LULAC Lambda celebrated 10 years of activism at its annual holiday party on December 12 at Uproar Lounge and Restaurant, located at 639 Florida Ave. NW. Around $900 were raised that evening to benefit LULAC Lambda’s annual scholarship which has awarded nearly $20,000 to 17 LGBTQ Latinx scholars in the District of Columbia since 2018. 

September 2024: Volunteering at food bank

LULAC Lambda once again volunteered at the Capital Area Food Bank in honor of Hunger Action Month. Our local food bank partners with 400 agencies in the DC, Maryland and Virginia region to provide 50 million meals each year. We spent 4 hours sorting through 20,000 pounds of food bank donations, inspecting product packaging and checking expiration dates to ensure food donated was safe.

August 2024: Back to school supply Drive

More than $600 worth of school supplies were donated by LULAC Lambda and friends to Mr. Eduardo Reyes. Each day, this young and energetic instructor challenges students to overcome their fear of Math.
